Planting in the Carolina Low-Country has a variety conditions to consider. Some items of consideration are the way a plant will behave in different soil types, and the wildlife of the Carolina Low-Country. The same plant can often appear as a different plant according to the pruning or care of that plant as well the sub variety. While we are not a tropical climate, there are many plants that can give that feeling. On the other hand, the same plant used in a more traditional planting fashion can produce a formal Charleston garden.
The great thing about Charleston is the age of the city. For over 200 years, wealthy merchants have been bringing plants to the area and trying them in their gardens and plantations.
